Island Tourism and Ecological Balance

Abstract

The article analyzes the impact of island tourism on ecological balance, existing problems and sustainable development models on a scientific basis. The fragile nature of islands in terms of ecosystems further deepens the pressures arising from tourism activities. The article evaluates the impacts of island tourism on the social and natural environment through specific examples such as Gokcheada and Bozjaada, and also refers to ecotourism strategies applied in the Seychelles and the Azores. The results of the study show that planned and community-based tourism approaches are important tools for the conservation of natural resources and the preservation of cultural heritage on islands. The article provides recommendations for the sustainable management of island tourism at both a theoretical and practical level.
