Network Traffic Modeling
Abstract
This paper explores various traffic models used to simulate network traffic loads. The models are categorized into two main groups: models that exhibit long-term dependencies or self-similarity, and Markov models that only demonstrate short-term dependencies. Self-similar models are typically employed to simulate non-homogeneous traffic loads, while Markov models are applied to simulate traditional networks, such as systems like PSTN. The study also investigates commonly used optimization algorithms and tools designed to solve specific classes of optimization problems. A general overview of several global optimization techniques for solving both constrained and unconstrained optimization problems is presented, along with a description of the general principles of optimization in mathematics.
