Abstract. This article examines the application of elements of matrix algebra to economically-oriented military problems. General concepts regarding matrices and operations on matrices are presented. Particular attention is given to the fact that matrix multiplication is non-commutative—that is, the result depends on the order of the factors. It is highlighted that the product of two matrices of arbitrary dimensions is not always possible; specifically, for matrix multiplication to be defined, the number of columns in the first matrix must equal the number of rows in the second matrix problems have been solved using the concept of matrix multiplication. It is demonstrated that a column matrix of any dimension can be multiplied by a row matrix of any dimension; however, a row matrix of any dimension cannot be multiplied by a column matrix of any dimension.
