Effectiveness of the robo-advisor in managing and enhancing investment portfolio returns: analytical and evaluative study of the "Tamra Capital" platform
Abstract. This study evaluated the performance of risk and investment optimization strategies implemented on the “Tamra Capital” fintech platform, a pioneer in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 by contributing to liquidity integration in automated Islamic systems and enhancing small-investor participation. We found that the added value of robo-advisors goes beyond investment allocation strategy; it includes rebalancing dynamics and the ability to deliver performance that covers fees and Zakat. The “Aggressive Tamra” strategy recovered strongly from the shock in March 2025 and delivered a return of over 107%; by mid-2026, it outperformed the nearest rival by 23.82%. Based on these findings, it was suggested to implement a multidisciplinary supervisory system; impose cyclical supervision on algorithm transparency; improve reporting of net returns after fees and Zakat; design a variety of Islamic products with a longer investment horizon (beyond two years) that can effectively ride volatility and deliver compounded returns.
