Patriotic Upbringing in Military Educational Institutions and its
Relationship with the Educational Process
Abstract
This article aims to provide information about the concept of upbringing and more specifically, patriotic education. The main objective of the article is to explain the essence of patriotic education and its connection with the educational process.
Instilling patriotic values in every young Azerbaijani is a vital and essential task. Patriotic education is closely linked to the teaching process, placing significant responsibility on educators. In particular, teachers of history, native language, and literature can play a pivotal role in fostering patriotism. They must help students internalize the importance of our historical heritage, the heroism of the Azerbaijani people, the sacredness of martyrdom, commitment to national and moral values, and love and respect for our language. Teachers should encourage students not to ask what the country has done for them, but rather what they have done for their country.
Patriotic education is of particular importance for students in military schools. Military education does not solely consist of learning how to use weapons and military equipment or mastering combat tactics; it also plays a crucial role in shaping patriotism as a noble quality in young soldiers.
For youth who will bear the responsibility for the nation's future, the significance of this value is undeniable. Being a soldier is not only about protecting borders with weapons - it also requires respecting, preserving, and taking ownership of the nation's cultural, linguistic, and symbolic heritage.
