“Safarnama” by Nasir Khusraw is a Valuable Source for Studying
the Countries of the East
Abstract
Nasir Khusraw is one of the outstanding poets and thinkers of Persian literature. At the age of 28, he began traveling to various cities and, based on his personal experiences, wrote his famous work, Safarnama (Book of Travels)
Safarnama is a valuable source on the geography, history, and culture of the medieval East. Although it contains literary elements, its genre is closer to memoirs, as the text is based on the author’s travel notes.
