Abstract. In the modern era, the expansion of international military cooperation, participation in peacekeeping operations, joint military exercises, and the development of scientific research activities have significantly increased the requirements for foreign language proficiency among military personnel. In this context, English has become an integral component of professional military activity, and the development of business and academic communication skills has emerged as one of the priority areas in military higher education institutions. This article examines the ways of developing English-language communicative competence among cadets and officers studying at military higher education institutions. The study analyzes modern methods of foreign language teaching, profession-oriented language training, communicative approaches, interactive learning technologies, and the use of digital resources. The findings indicate that the integrated development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills enables cadets to communicate effectively in English during their professional activities. Furthermore, the development of academic writing skills, scientific article preparation, presentation techniques, official correspondence, and business communication enhances the competitiveness of military specialists in the international environment. The article also highlights the positive impact of scenario-based learning, role-playing activities, virtual simulations, online platforms, and international cooperation programs on the development of communicative skills. The results of the study demonstrate that systematic, goal-oriented, and modern pedagogical strategies contribute significantly to the development of business and academic communication skills in English, the formation of professional competencies among cadets, and their successful integration into the international military environment.
