The Stylistic Position of Phraseologisms in the
Work of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh
Abstract
These phraseological units are stylistic means widely used in poetry and prose. In linguistics, we can attribute phraseologisms, which are taught within the scope of lexicology, to lexical stylistic means. However, the expressive-emotional function of fixed word combinations appears in poetry works. In prose works, phraseology is considered a means of expressing thought. Thus, fixed word combinations act as syntactic-stylistic figures in artistic examples. Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh's artistic creativity is also distinguished in terms of phraseological lexis. The poet skillfully adapted phraseological units to the poetic content through inversion. This adaptation gave rhythm and harmony to the artistic language. We can divide the phraseological units found in the poet's work into three groups in terms of expressing positive, negative, and neutral shades semantically. However, positive and negative phraseologisms predominate among them. Neutral phraseological units can be used as metaphors, although they do not possess any expressiveness.
Thus, phraseological units with colorful shades strengthened the idea and created imagery. The second important function of phraseological units is to create originality. These expressions give a sincere impression because they reflect the way how people think. Through simple combinations, the writer creates a dramatic scene by reviving his thoughts more effectively before the eyes of the reader.
