Application of Renewable Energy Sources in the Mining Industry: Assessment of Ecological and Economic Potential
Zeynal Abasov
Abstract. This article comprehensively assesses the ecological and economic potential of applying renewable energy sources in the mining industry. The primary objective of the study is to determine the feasibility of reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and integrating alternative energy solutions into industrial processes. The article analyzes the application prospects of solar, wind, hydro, and other renewable energy sources in the mining sector, examining their impact on production processes and their contributions to energy efficiency. Furthermore, the issues of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, environmental protection, and ensuring ecological sustainability as outcomes of implementing these technologies are elaborated upon in detail. Within the framework of the study, the experiences of various countries are comparatively analyzed, and the economic effectiveness of contemporary energy models applied in the mining industry is evaluated. The advantages of alternative energy sources are identified in terms of capital investment, operational costs, and long-term economic benefits. The findings indicate that the application of renewable energy sources in the mining industry represents an approach that is not only ecologically sound but also economically viable. This, in turn, holds considerable significance for ensuring energy security and achieving the sustainable development of the industry in the future.
