Emotional Burnout Syndrome in Professional Activity

Abstract

Burnout syndrome (BOS) is one of the most prevalent psychological issues faced by professionals across various occupational fields today. It arises as a result of prolonged occupational stress, excessive workload, emotional strain, and decreased motivation. Research indicates that burnout comprises three main components: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a reduced sense of personal accomplishment. This condition negatively affects not only an individual’s psychological well-being but also the overall performance of the organization. The article examines the causes, stages, and prevention strategies of burnout from psychological and pedagogical perspectives. Preventive measures include developing emotional intelligence, maintaining a healthy work–life balance, and strengthening social support systems. The findings emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and psychological intervention to mitigate the adverse effects of burnout and to promote professional resilience among employees.
