Historical-Pedagogical Research of the Development of Higher Military Education in Azerbaijan

Abstract

The article examines the historical development of higher military education in Azerbaijan, its main stages, pedagogical approaches and the application of international experience. Based on historical sources and official documents, the stages of development of higher military education, the changes it underwent during the USSR and after independence are analyzed. The article also discussed the initial forms of military education in the territory of Azerbaijan. Thus, with the emergence of early state structures, military training began to be systematically applied. In ancient states such as Manna, Midia and Atropatena, the training of warriors was of particular importance.

With the proclamation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) in 1918, the main priorities of creating and strengthening the military potential of an independent state were reflected in the article.

The beginning of the process of adapting military education in the country to the Soviet model with the transition of Azerbaijan to Soviet power, the main goal of organizing the military education system, attracting local personnel to the ranks of the Red Army and their ideological training with Soviet propaganda, also form the basis of the article.

With the independence of Azerbaijan, the formation of a unique national military education system for the country was set as an important issue. After the establishment of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in 1991, a new model for the training of military personnel began to be implemented.
