Leading Figures of the Constitutional Movement: The Life and Struggle of Sattarkhan and Baghirkhan
Abstract
The Constitutional Movement gained widespread popular support in Tabriz and became a form of armed and organized resistance. The mujahideen groups formed under the leadership of Sattar Khan and Bagir Khan played a decisive role in the struggle against the tyrannical regime, and as a result of this struggle, Muhammad Ali Shah was overthrown. However, the political and ideological divisions that arose within the movement after the victory, the pressure of foreign states, and the weak position of the central government did not allow the full realization of the Constitutional ideals. Their heroism became so famous that their names were mentioned in the European and American press and left an indelible mark on the history of the Iranian constitutional movement. This article briefly presents the lives and activities of both constitutional heroes together.
