Pedagogical Communication – as the Basis for Effective Interaction in
Teacher-Student Relationships
Abstract
The expression of mutual relations between people is called communication. The foundation of other interpersonal relations begins with communication. The foundation of communication, more precisely, communication skills that start in the family, which play an important role in both a person's personal and professional life, is laid at school. Children acquire skills such as listening, expressing their attitude to what they are listening to, building empathy, using facial expressions and gestures appropriately, as well as patience and restraint in communication from elementary school in teacher-student relationships.
Teacher-student communication is called pedagogical communication as a professional communication. In pedagogical communication, the teacher does not simply enter into a dialogue with the student, but develops his individual-cognitive, emotional and motivational abilities. If pedagogical communication is established efficiently and effectively, the student's abilities are revealed and correct, fluent and clear speech habits are acquired.
Although in teacher-student pedagogical communication, the teacher acts as a subject and a controlled one, he sometimes stands on an equal footing with the student due to his individual communication style, position and approach; While teachers with an authoritarian leadership style treated students as objects, in modern teaching the teacher's activity is based on a subject-subject level. Successful pedagogical communication in teacher-student relationships is considered the key to the educational process.
