Preserving Our Language Means Preserving Our National Identity
Abstract
Our national leader H. Aliyev said in his speeches: “The Republic of Azerbaijan is a multinational state. The more people a state or country unites, the richer it becomes, because each of them makes its own contribution to world culture. Azerbaijan is the common homeland of all nations and peoples living on this territory. As an independent, democratic state, Azerbaijan provides freedom and liberty opportunities to all peoples and nations living on its territory.”
He also said: “We must both use the spiritual wealth we have received from our national history and master the spiritual values created by humanity. In order to implement all this, we must also protect our native language and national identity.” The policy implemented by the Great Leader is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. As a result, Azerbaijan has become the leading state in the region in terms of the protection and development of both socio-economic and spiritual values.
President Ilham Aliyev, during his speech at the 80th anniversary meeting of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, emphasized the importance of both our native language and linguistics: “Protecting the purity of the Azerbaijani language should be the job of every Azerbaijani citizen. That is, the state, scientists, linguists, writers, poets, journalists, and those involved in politics should pay great attention to this issue. If we, as a people, as a nation, do not protect our language, if we do not keep our language clean and pure, then we may slowly lose our language, and our national identity may also be undermined. I am sure that my words will reach everyone, and I myself will constantly deal with this issue, monitor it, and take necessary measures. I also call on Azerbaijani scientists to show their attitude and support to this issue.”
