Prospects for the Application of a Free Economic Zone Model in the Karabakh Region
Zeynab Nazaraliyeva
Abstract. This paper examines the prospects of establishing a free economic zone in the Karabakh region following the 2020 Second Karabakh War. Rather than a conventional FEZ framework, the study proposes a three-tiered hybrid model combining green economy principles, multimodal logistics and a digital innovation cluster. Drawing on the experiences of Songdo (South Korea), Masdar City (UAE) and Poti Free Industrial Zone (Georgia), the paper argues that Karabakh's renewable energy resources, Zangezur Corridor advantage and fertile agricultural land create a uniquely strong investment profile for the South Caucasus.
