Quality Assurance in Higher Education and its
Innovative Features
Abstract
The issue of quality assurance in higher education has become one of the main priority areas of education policy. The growing global competition, changing demands of the labor market, rapid technological development, as well as the need to implement the United Nations “Sustainable Development Goals” (particularly Goal 4 – “Quality Education”) have made the application of new and innovative approaches in this field even more essential.
The concept of quality assurance is not limited to accreditation and evaluation mechanisms alone. The internal management structure of universities, their strategic planning, and sustainable development policies are closely related to the quality assurance system. In the modern era, the main goal of the quality assurance system in higher education institutions is to enhance efficiency in teaching, research, and social activities; ensure transparency and accountability; and increase student satisfaction. This article analyzes the essence of quality assurance in higher education, its management structures, and innovative characteristics. It also examines the measures taken to align quality assurance mechanisms in Azerbaijan’s higher education system with international standards, as well as the existing challenges. The results show that the implementation of innovative management approaches not only ensures the sustainable development of quality in higher education but also strengthens the integration of the national higher education system into the global educational space.
