Statehood Principles and the National Development Model in
Heydar Aliyev’s Policy
Abstract
The article thoroughly examines the principles of statehood, the national development model of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, and the crucial role this model has played in the political, economic, social, and moral life of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The study scientifically analyzes the strategic essence of Heydar Aliyev’s policy and its multifaceted mechanisms of influence. The author emphasizes that in state governance, Heydar Aliyev identified the protection of national interests, the irreversibility of state independence, and the establishment of a legal, democratic, and secular state as the main guiding principles.
The article also explains, from a scholarly perspective, Heydar Aliyev’s role in the formation of the national ideology — the concept of Azerbaijanism — and the importance of this ideology as a foundational idea that strengthens the moral unity of society, national self-awareness, and statehood consciousness. Consequently, Heydar Aliyev’s political legacy is presented as the cornerstone of Azerbaijan’s modern development model, and it is concluded that his concept of statehood continues to serve as the main ideological foundation shaping the country’s strategic course today.
