The Abolition of the Khiva Khanate and the Establishment of the Khorezm People's Soviet Republic: An Analysis of Political and Legal Processes
Abstract
This article analyzes the process of the establishment of the Khorezm People's Soviet Republic (KPSR) as a result of the political transformations in the Khiva Khanate at the beginning of the 20th century, based on historical sources. The study highlights the political nature of the young khivans’ movement, their reformist activities and the content of the alliance agreements concluded with Soviet Russia. It also examines the contrast between the formal independence of the KPSR and its actual political dependence. Using a historical-analytical approach, the article explores the significance of these political developments in the broader context of Central Asian history.
