The Characteristic of Using Magical Realism Principles in English Literature

 

Abstract

 

One of the key points that draws our attention in the study of modern English prose is its richness of styles. Realistic life portrayalas have started to be expressed in new genres and magical realism has emerged has a distinctive approach. Unlike classical fantasy, it also evokes associations with post-expressionism. What is real, presented in a way yetthat evokes surprise, has began to be described in literature even before reality itself.This trend, which first appeared in Western European literature has found its reflection in English prose. The novel is based on an interesting narrative form. Fowles’ creative style captivates the romantic and sensitive reader, simultaneously attracting the attention of those interested in erotica. Eroticism, mythology and and creative imagination are intertwined in this piece.

The novel features mythological and artistic parallele-Erito’s mythological symbol, for instance and even Eraton himself and the protagonist Miles, who erotically reveals Miles Green’s repressed feelings, a garrulous, a forest princess and a geisha, who brings to life the emotions awakened by Doctor Delphi. These are all presented to the reader through surrealistic and mystical atmosphere of Miles’ world. Although the reader may struggle to grasp the full meaning until the end, the title they often of the novel maximally reflects its main idea and unity. As for the reader, they often see themselves as an outsider in the work but eventually become one of the participants in the narrative. Each person can take something of their own from this novel.
