The Ideological Directions of Ahmad Bey Agaoglu's Articles in the
"Hikmet" Newspaper
Abstract
The worldview and ideological system of Ahmad bey Agaoglu, one of the prominent representatives of Azerbaijani socio-political thought in the 20th century, were significantly shaped by the education he received in Europe and the democratic values of that environment. In his way of thinking, the ideas of nationalism and Turkism always held a central place. After completing his education in France and returning to his homeland, Ahmad bey became known not only as one of the advocates of the idea of Turkism, but also began publishing articles on nationalism and ideology in the national press from that period onward. He was describing the historical origins and development path of the national ideology of Turkism in the newspapers "Kaspi", "Hayat", "İrshad", "Taraqqi" in Azerbaijan and then "Şurau-i Ummet" and "Hikmet" in Turkey. Loyalty to national and spiritual values and historical roots were among the factors that played an important role in his way of thinking. The idea of Turkism, which is the initial stage of the Azerbaijani ideology, played an important role in the formation of the independent Republic of our nation. In this work, the services of the great ideologist and patriot Ahmet Agaoglu are very valuable.
