The Manifestation of Batik in National Clothing

Abstract

The art of batik has been an integral part of the cultural heritage of many nations for centuries. In Azerbaijan, batik techniques have been widely applied in the creation of national garments, especially in decorating silk textiles. The use of natural dyes contributes to the ecological and sustainable aspects of this art form. Traditional headscarves like kelaghayi often incorporate batik methods, showcasing both functional and aesthetic values. Today, batik technologies are being integrated with modern design approaches, maintaining their relevance in both the art world and the textile industry. This also plays a vital role in preserving Azerbaijan’s ethnographic and decorative-applied art traditions. The use of kelagayi has remained relevant to this day. This art form is one of the rare examples of art passed down to us by our ancestors through the centuries.
