The Period Formation Period and Development Stages of the Portrait Genre in the
Theatre Studies of Azerbaijan
Abstract
This article discusses the current state and significance of the portrait genre in the theatre studies of Azerbaijan. The author, tracing the history of national theatre, aims to reveal the stages of development and create an overall picture in the progress of genre by analyzing portrait articles and monographs written about artists who have distinguished themselves through their unique creative styles in the field of theatre.
There are certain examples of literature written in the portrait genre within the theatre studies of Azerbaijan. Portrait monographs and articles written by various theatre scholars at different times are great importance for examining the development path of this genre. For instance, in the field of theatre studies, numerous portrait monographs and articles dedicated to the life and work of actors, directors and playwrights by authors such as J.Jafarov, M.Mammadov, M.Allahverdiyev, I.Karimov, A.Aliyeva, A.Ismayilova, T.Ayyubov, A.Babayev, J.Mammadov, I.Israfilov, I.Rahimli, M.Alizadeh, A.Talibzade and others have played a significant role in enriching and developing the portrait genre
As the theatre art evolved, the theatre studies also began to take shape as an independent field of science and the portrait genre developed as part of this process. However, when taken as a whole, it should be noted that it is difficult to find works in the theatre studies of Azerbaijan that provide a broad, comprehensive and systematic view of the portrait genre or examine its dynamic development.
