The Reasons for Girls Dropping out of Education: An Analysis of Social and Cultural Factors

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the reasons behind girls dropping out of education and examines the social, economic, and cultural consequences of this issue at both individual and societal levels. The main objective of the research is to identify the underlying factors contributing to girls’ disengagement from education and to propose recommendations for addressing the issue. Family dynamics, early marriages, gender stereotypes, financial difficulties, and parental attitudes toward education play a key role in this process. Findings reveal that in many families, girls’ education is not prioritized, and they are often assigned household responsibilities from an early age, leading to school dropouts. Furthermore, deficiencies in the education system, weak legal mechanisms, and a lack of awareness campaigns deepen the problem. The article highlights the scale and global relevance of the issue using both local and international statistical data. Successful programs implemented in various countries are presented as models of good practice. In the conclusion, the article proposes practical steps based on collaboration among the government, society, and families to ensure equal access to education for all girls. This research aims to contribute to the protection of girls' right to education and support the creation of inclusive, equitable educational environments.
