The Social Function of Museums and Visitor Attraction Strategies
Abstract
The article analyzes the role of museums as social institutions in modern society and their visitor attraction strategies. The authors note that museums are no longer merely places where exhibits are preserved, but also public platforms that serve education, the promotion of cultural heritage, social integration, and tourism development. Their educational, research, recreational, and economic functions create a broad social impact. In terms of visitor attraction, the importance of digital marketing, social media, interactive exhibitions, thematic displays, events such as “Museum Night,” and branding strategies is emphasized. The authors also highlight the successful experience of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, underlining the significance of museum activities based on social dialogue, inclusivity, and innovative technologies. Consequently, the social function of museums and visitor attraction policy are interrelated, contributing to cultural development and sustainable social progress.
