Azerbaijani-Russian Language Interaction: History and Modernity
Abstract
The study examined issues of linguistic interaction between the Azerbaijani and Russian languages, covering historical, socio-cultural and political aspects. The processes of bilingualism formation were analyzed, starting from the 19th century, when the influence of Russian-speaking administration and education played a key role, and up to the modern period characterized by globalization and digital technologies. The mechanisms of language borrowing, adaptation and integration, as well as the influence of state language policy on the preservation of national identity were studied. The study used historical archival documents, statistical data and the results of sociolinguistic surveys, which made it possible to identify key trends in linguistic interaction. Particular attention was paid to issues of bilingualism, migration and transformation of language practices in the context of the modern information environment. In conclusion, the need for a balanced language policy that takes into account both historical traditions and modern challenges, as well as the importance of further research in the field of intercultural communication, was emphasized.
