Fantasy and Fear in the Novel of “The Land of Zikola” by Amr Abdelhamid
Abstract
The term "fantasy" has a history rooted in ancient languages and has sought to carve its path within modern critical studies, asserting its presence there. It is a creative imagination that addresses everyday reality in an unfamiliar manner, immersing the recipient of the literary work in an atmosphere of wonder and astonishment that can reach the point of hallucination. This is because what the narrator recounts is far removed from reality, a quality we observed in the novel “Ard Zikola” by Amr Abdel Hamid.
