Financial Sources of Women Entrepreneurs: Bank Loans, Microfinance, Grants, Investments

Aytan Alimirzayeva

Abstract. Women’s entrepreneurship is one of the key areas that plays an important role in the inclusive development of the modern economy. The involvement of women in business activities is of particular importance in terms of increasing employment, raising family incomes, and strengthening regional development. However, women entrepreneurs face a number of serious difficulties in accessing financial resources. In this regard, the analysis of the main financial sources they use - bank loans, microfinance institutions, grant programs, and investment mechanisms - is considered relevant.

Bank loans are one of the most widely used financial instruments for women entrepreneurs. However, conditions such as collateral requirements, credit history, and interest rates may significantly complicate women’s access to loans. Microfinance institutions, on the other hand, create favorable opportunities with more flexible terms, especially for small and newly established businesses. Grant programs are provided by the state and international organizations and serve to promote women’s entrepreneurship in the form of non-repayable financial support. In addition, investment sources - especially business angels and venture capital - play an important role in the development of innovative and high-potential startups led by women.
