In Gunter Grass's "My Centenary", The Impact of World War II on the
Fate of People and Countries
Abstract
Although Grass's creativity has been involved in a lot of research in our time, his creativity has not been investigated enough in Azerbaijan. Since Grass's themes are universal, I focused on the social and political events happening in the world while expressing my opinion about the work "My Centenary". Also, I have tried to justify with quotes from the work how the Second World War radically changed the lives of not only Germans, but also other nations.
The analysis of how Grass tried to reflect his position based on how the various characters participating in the work evaluate the war is sequentially mentioned. The analysis of the images shows that Grass called the whole world to think about it based on the "human" factor. War is a force capable of humiliating not only people, but even the whole world. In my research, I conducted the research based on this idea of the writer.
Grass's attitude to the political situation of other countries was also emphasized. The writer realistically described how people who have never seen each other's faces took up arms and tried to destroy each other's lives in such a way that he was able to create a deep hatred for war in the reader. Considering these facts, I conducted my research in the direction of Gunther Grass's approach to war from a different point of view.
