The Concept of Logistics and Its Specific Features in the Agricultural Sector
Abstract. Logistics, as an integral part of the modern economy, serves as a bridge between production and consumption. Its main goal is to ensure the efficient movement of products, raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products, and to deliver them to the consumer in a timely and high-quality manner. This process includes not only transportation, but also planning, management, optimization of resources and coordination of information flows, thus ensuring the efficient use of resources and increasing competitiveness.
Logistics in the agricultural sector has specific features. The seasonal nature of agricultural production, the perishability of products and the requirement for special conditions during transportation and storage distinguish this sector from others. For example, the use of refrigerated trucks and special containers in the transportation of agricultural products, and the presence of refrigerated warehouses during the storage stage are necessary. Also, the level of infrastructure, technical support of vehicles and the application of digital tracking systems play a critical role in the market access and competitiveness of products. Agricultural logistics is not limited only to the physical movement of products; It is of strategic importance in terms of food security, providing consumers with healthy food, employment of the rural population, and increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products in international markets.
