Abstract. This article examines the role of digital production systems in the mechanical engineering industry, their impact on optimizing production processes, and their application opportunities in modern industrial enterprises. During the research, the innovations created by digital technologies, automated control systems, artificial intelligence, and robotic technologies in the field of mechanical engineering were extensively analyzed. At the same time, advantages such as accelerating production processes, improving product quality, using human labor more efficiently, and reducing production costs were evaluated. The article particularly emphasizes the importance of digital production systems within the framework of the Industry 4.0 concept and demonstrates the impact of modern software and smart management technologies on the competitiveness of mechanical engineering enterprises. In addition, technical, economic, and workforce training problems arising during the process of digital transformation were also investigated. As a result of the conducted analysis, it was determined that the implementation of digital production systems is of great importance for the sustainable development of the mechanical engineering industry, increasing productivity, and forming an innovative production model. These systems also enhance flexibility in production processes, enabling more efficient management of resources.
