Torpağın təqribən üçdə bir hissəsi israf olunan qida məhsulları istehsalı üçün istifadə olunur. Yəni, qida tullantıları sayəsində münbit olan torpaqların 33 faizini əsas etibarilə israf edirik. Həmin torpaqdan müxtəlif məqsədlər üçün, buna misal olaraq , kənd təsərrüfatı sahəsində olan tədqiqatlar üçün istifadə oluna bilər. Bununla yanaşı, şirin suyun təqribən 24%-i qida tullantıları sayəsində israf olunur , halbuki ümumi hesabla dünyada milyonlarla insanın pak olan içməli suya çıxışı yoxdur.

Əgər qida tullantılarının istixana qazı emissiyalarına töhfə verməsinin aspektlərini göstərsək: 

Qida tullantıları ən güclü qazlardan biri olan metan qazı istehsalı ilə istixana qazı emissiyalarının səviyyəsini maksimallaşdırır. Qlobal istiləşmə və həmçinin iqlim dəyişikliyi ilə əlaqədar olaraq ətraf mühitə təsiri olduğu üçün qida tullantılarının minimallaşdırılmasına ehtiyac artır.

About a third of the land is used for food production. In other words, we are basically wasting 33 percent of our fertile land as a result of food waste. This land could be used for other purposes, such as agricultural research. In addition, about 24% of fresh water is wasted as a result of food waste, while millions of people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water.

Here are some aspects of the contribution of food waste to greenhouse gas emissions:

Corrosion of food waste after disposal, as well as the life cycle from production to consumption. Food waste raises the level of greenhouse gas emissions by producing methane gas, one of the most powerful gases. There is a growing need to minimize food waste due to the effects of global warming and also climate change on the environment.
