An Outstanding Researcher of Our History of Journalism

This article analyzes the issues of national memory and spiritual heritage in the research of Professor Shirmammad Huseynov, an outstanding historian, scholar, and media researcher, who consistently places the issue of national ideology at the forefront of his work. İnvestigating this topic in detail, the author draws on Professor Huseynov's research on the prominent publicist Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

As discussed in the article, Uzeyir Bey, the author of the first opera in the entire Eastern world, is the founder of professional music in Azerbaijan and one of the unshakable pillars of our people and national spirituality. U. Hajibeyli enriched the treasury of Azerbaijani public opinion not only with his immortal musical works but also with his literary creativity and journalistic writings. The article highlights U. Hajibeyli's active public activities, which began at the start of the 20th century, and his writings advocating for national progress and social awakening in various press outlets, which illuminated the path to our nation's revival like a torch. Therefore, some researchers refer to Uzeyir Hajibeyli as "an outstanding literary figure, the pride of our nation, and a powerful artist of the 20th century, whom the people of Azerbaijan have given to world culture." Professor Shirmammad Huseynov considers him one of the "national saints" for his contributions to national thought.
