Equality in Education
Abstract. The purpose of this article is to address the principle that every individual, regardless of their social, economic, physical, or cultural background, should have access to equal educational opportunities and resources. The primary objective is to prevent disadvantages–whether present from birth or acquired later in life–from hindering an individual's right to learn and develop themselves. Education is one of the most fundamental human rights, essential for realizing individual potential and ensuring social justice. This study examines the concept of equality in education from a unified perspective, focusing on the dimensions of equality of opportunity and equality of outcomes.
The research analyzes how disadvantageous factors–such as geographical location, socioeconomic status, gender, and special needs–affect individuals' access to education and the quality of education they receive. It emphasizes that merely providing the same resources (equality of opportunity) is insufficient to overcome individual differences. The primary goal is to create an inclusive structure by supporting individuals in accordance with their specific needs (equity). Consequently, the research indicates that ensuring equity in education not only enhances individual success but also reduces social stratification, supports economic development, and contributes to the establishment of a sustainable social structure.
