Abstract. This article examines the life and activities in Germany of Fuad Amircan – an Azerbaijani patriot, intellectual, political figure, and journalist. Amircan played a pivotal role in the lives of Azerbaijani legionnaires residing in Germany during and after World War II and campaigned tirelessly to prevent their forced return to the USSR. The article highlights Amircan’s work as an émigré in Germany, detailing his tireless, collaborative efforts alongside fellow freedom fighters – such as M.A. Rasulzadeh, F. Dudanginski, S. Takinar, F. Mammadov, M. Musazadeh, and M. Muradli – to unite Azerbaijanis held in prisoner-of-war camps in Munich during the war and to determine their fates in the post-war years. In addition to supporting Azerbaijani legionnaires in Germany –both during and after the war – Fuad Amircan played an active role in the country's political and social life, contributing articles to German-published newspapers such as "Təsviri Əfkar", "Azərbaycan", and "Hücum", as well as the journal "Milli Birlik". The text also details his post-World War II collaboration with dedicated patriots like Hasan Karbala (Dr. Orouz), Ismayil Akbar, and Shamil Atabay in establishing the "Caucasus Independence Committee". Furthermore, it highlights his work as a journalist alongside Majid Musazadeh, the editor of the "Azərbaycan" newspaper. An uncompromising opponent of Soviet ideology, Stalinism, and Bolshevism, Fuad Amircan fought for the freedom and sovereignty not only of Azerbaijanis but of all Caucasian peoples. The article also discusses his political career, including his representation of the Turkish state in the European Parliament after the war, and touches upon his work with "Voice of America" radio.
