The Idea of National Unity and Ideological Issues in Ahmad Bey Agaoglu's
Press Activity
Abstract
The ideological views of Ahmad Bey Agaoglu, one of the prominent representatives of Azerbaijan’s socio-political thought in the twentieth century, are reflected in the pages of the national press. His scientific, publicist, and literary-critical articles published in the Kaspi, Hayat, Irshad, and Taraggi newspapers provide extensive coverage of socio-political and journalistic matters. Although the European environment in which he studied and the principle of democratic values are central to these articles, nationalism has always been at the forefront of his way of thinking. The press samples of the period, which reflect Ahmad Bey Agaoglu`s socio-political activity of confirm that this great socio-political figure worked tirelessly for his country and nation, addressing the most important and relevant topics of the time and publishing them in various newspapers and journals. Ahmad Bey Agaoglu, known as a prominent researcher, publicist, public figure, educator, writer, philosopher, and thinker, was a fighter and a remarkable personality who led in every field that required hard work and intellect. Agaoglu had a significant impact on the national awakening of the Azerbaijani people and closely participated in the formation of national self-consciousness in Azerbaijan.
