The Period Press of ADR in Shirmammad Huseynov`s Researches
Abstract
Re-examining the history of the press after gaining independence and shedding light on the realities of the time from a new perspective is one of the important issues of today. This article focuses on Shirmammad Huseynov`s research. A scholar of our national spiritual heritage, from 1991 to 2018, regarding the unexplored pages of Azerbaijani press, press organizations excluded from research, lesser-known personalities, facts banned for political reasons during the Soviet era, and distorted events, particularly those related to the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR).
These analysises reveal that Shirmammad Huseynov evaluated facts, events, issues, and personalities based on the principles of Azerbaijani nationalism. Through the analysis of his scientific works published over the years, it becomes clear that he investigated the ADR period with an objective approach.
Huseynov's three-volume work Parliamentary Reports and Comments (November 1918 – April 1920), published in the Azerbaijan newspaper, is considered a valuable source for studying the interests of opposing forces, understanding the processes taking place in the country, and researching our history objectively, systematically, and based on facts.
This article also evaluates the scholar's civic stance in these studies, and critically analyzes the relevance of his research.
