Using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Technologies in Media and Analysis of the Current Situation in Azerbaijani Internet Media

Abstract

In modern times, one of the main factors affecting the development of the media, facilitating journalistic activity, and attracting audience interest is the application of technological innovations. The use of these innovations creates certain opportunities for both the content and the journalist. For example, materials produced using technological innovations save time by being created faster and attract interest by offering a different perspective. At times, the use of such technologies not only provides the aforementioned opportunities for journalists but also introduces new concepts to journalism itself, leading to the creation of new genres or formats. The application of these trends in Azerbaijani media, as part of the global media system, is also of interest. The main purpose of this article is to examine the popularity of these technological innovations in journalistic practice, assess the ability of media professionals to use them, and evaluate the usefulness of the innovations applied. The article also discusses the formation of immersive journalism, a new development for Azerbaijan, and its current state in the country. The article explores how these technologies contribute to the creation of immersive journalism and the development of this format, as well as the challenges in implementing these innovations in Azerbaijani media and the reasons behind these challenges.
