Müasir dövrdə onlayn şəkildə həyata keçirilən distant təhsil bütün dünyada geniş miqyas alıb. Distant təhsil ənənəvi təhsildən fərqli olaraq coğrafi cəhətdən maneələrin olmaması, dövrün tələbatına uyğun olaraq müasir materiallardan istifadə edilməsi, yüksək texnologiya, mühazirə tipli dərslərə daha az diqqət yetirməklə tələbəyönümlülüyü ilə seçilir. Distant və ya onlayn təhsilin tərkib hissəsi olan həm sinxron, həm də asinxron təhsil videokonfrans, hibrid təhsil, açıq cədvəlli onlayn kurslar (kütləvi açıq onlayn kurs), sabit vaxtlı onlayn kurslar şəklində həyata keçirilir. “Hibrid öyrənmə” müasir öyrətmə metodu olub, texnologiya və rəqəmsal media vasitəsilə tapşırıqları həll etməyə, tələbələrə öyrənməni daha tez aşılamağa kömək edir. Həm üz-üzə, həm də onlayn öyrənmənin üstünlükləri və zəif tərəfləri var, lakin hibrid öyrənmənin məqsədi tək bir öyrənmə təcrübəsi yaratmaq üçün iki formatı birləşdirməkdir. Distant təhsil müsbət xüsusiyyətləri ilə müasir elmin böyük neməti, təhsilin tərkib hissəsidir.

In modern times distance education has become widespread all over the world. Unlike traditional education, distance education is characterized by the absence of geographical barriers, the use of modern materials in accordance with the need of the time, high technology, student-orientedness with less emphasis on lecture-type classes. Both synchronous and asynchronous education which is part of distance or online education, is carried out in the form of video conference, hybrid education, open schedule online courses (massive open online course), fixed-time online courses. "Hybrid learning" ‒ a component of distance education, is a modern teaching method that uses technology and digital media to solve tasks and help students to learn more quickly. Both face-to-face and online learning have their advantages and disadvantages, but the goal of hybrid learning is to combine the two formats to create a single learning experience. Distance education is a great blessing of modern science with its positive features and it is an integral part of education.
