Structure and Massiveness of Sports in Azerbaijan:
Statistical Aspects and Social Factors
Abstract
The article examines the formation of the structure of sports in Azerbaijan, the degree of their massification and the social factors affecting this process. The main goal of the study is to determine the geographical, social and demographic aspects of sports activity in the country, assess the level of involvement of population groups in various sports and reveal the factors that hinder the development of mass sports. The work analyzes data from the State Statistics Committee, reports from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the results of social surveys conducted in the regions. The author presents a classification of sports (by Olympic, non-Olympic, national and adaptive sports) and correlates their massification with socio-economic indicators.
The results show that the development of mass sports in Azerbaijan is largely related to the level of urbanization, education, social welfare and infrastructure provision. The direct relationship of adaptive sports with inclusive social policy and raising public awareness is determined. The results obtained in the article are supplemented with practical recommendations in terms of integrating sports policy into regional development programs.
