The Influence of the Russian Literary Environment on the Formation of
V.Woolf’s aesthetic views
Abstract
The article examines the aesthetic views of Virginia Woolf, a prominent representative of 20th-century English literature, and the influence of Russian writers on her literary style and philosophical worldview. Woolf's modernist approach, characterized by the stream-of-consciousness technique and psychological depth in her works, was influenced by her acquaintance with Russian literature. She read the works of F. Dostoevsky, A. Chekhov, L. Tolstoy with deep interest, and resonated with their introspective image-making methods and unconventional narrative techniques and artistic views. Woolf's artistic and aesthetic thought reflects her admiration for the emotional intensity and existential depth of Russian literary examples, which opened up new perspectives in the development of the novel genre. In this aspect, V. Woolf's work has not yet been the object of special research. The article analyzes the main aspects of this influence and emphasizes how the principles of Russian literature are manifested in Virginia Woolf's experimental prose.
